How much WHP and WTQ are MR owners running?
This would be a good thread to track how the MR trannies are holding up with the extra hp. I have a Drop-in and a IveyTune and have 300 whp/wtq and its doing fine.

ive got 348 wheel horsepower, and i drive the car pretty hard, daily, and everything seems to be running perfect so far
at about 20k miles, and 8k miles fully tuned
i havent dont the tranny fluid or filter yet, i wanted to do it before the winter but i think im gonna wait awhile, not really in a rush, the tranny fluid costs SO much
also ive launched the car a bunch of times, launch mode still works fine, and its a pretty hard launch

Torque and temperature are much more detrimental factors when it comes to the TC-SST. There is a specific limit of torque that the trans is designed to handle... like 400 or 350 or something like that. Sorry I cannot remember right now! Just make sure a good trans. cooler is on your mod list!

I am pretty sure when the new tune is put on it (in the shop now) I will be in the mid 400s, I have to go to the dyno to get the exact numbers. Before this upgrade I was right around 340ish, the tranny and clutch were holding just fine (I love the 6 speed). I then went out and did a overhaul on the turbo system and cams and dropped in a new twin disc... cant wait to get her on the road...

With these types of numbers, and the reliability your speaking about, I think I can live with a new X MR.......I think .

20K miles isn't exactly a test of reliability. That said, he's pretty high up on power (and thus torque), so that's a pretty nice indication of the potential reliability of the tranny.
I'd be more interested in how it's doing at 50K miles since no one wants to do a $2K clutch job very often!

Yah I agree, though it is a wet clutch so it should last longer than a dry one in general. I don't think had the intentions of swapping transmissions when the clutch runs out... They currently don't have any service parts for the SST that I'm aware of. I believe if your transmissions "goes out" they replace it and send it to Germany.

8K miles of fully tuned - hard launches included- on a tranny with a maximum rated torque capacity of 347ft/lb........... that is reliable in my sense since I myself have never - not even once- launched my EVO IX (for fear of totally destroyed some expensive driveline component). Can you imagine the the life of that trans if he didn't ever launch it? It could last 20-30-40k miles (speculation), or maybe never suffer a hiccup. For right now, given few people have REALLY treaded into the area of modding the new X MR due to the advertised/assumed/believe/supposed max. power capabilities of it's trans, we just not been witness to the real potential of this trans, though, I wouldn't be surprised if this trans went bye bye soon.

I'd say it's a test of the clutches more than the transmission. The MR slips the clutches to preserve the transmission so my worry is that he hasn't broken the tranny because he's ruining his clutches instead.
If his clutches give out, and Mitsu requires a full transmission changeout instead of just fitting new clutches, that's a heck of a bill to be getting on a regular basis. I drive 20K miles a year so even if it lasts 30K or 40K, that's still not enough for me to warrant modifying it beyond a basic tune with just an exhaust and drop-in or something.
Either way, it's interesting that he's gone 8K miles with relatively big power and torque output without any known issues. I wouldn't have guessed it would last even that long if he's launching it on a regular basis.
