What happens when the SST reaches its limit? (read inside to find out)

We put on a 3-port GM boost solenoid and Forge WGA on my MR and upped the boost. This is what happened when we hit 29psi as described by my tuner.

This really discouraged me from pushing the car hard, so we backed it down at peak torque by manipulating the MIVEC / Target Boost / Fine and Coarse WGDC tables.. The drop in power before peak torque is the product of the tune being backed down for safety of the transmission.

Because we have a Mustang 500SE, the 350wtq may be a little more than the SST is really happy with

Thanks,

It has been stated that upping the boost with the SST is difficult without making it flip out.

I'll admit I don't know much about how the transmission communicates with what boost is going on, but AMS has had success with their boost pill and manipulating the WGA. I don't think it will hold 29psi on stock components... but do you really want to do 29psi on stock internals?

I'd think 25psi would be plenty.

It was for testing purposes...and of course we did not keep it that high...Peak boost is roughly 26.5 lbs with manipulation of the mivec settings as stated by my tuner to keep tq down. I just wanted to share my findings with the community.

Don't think I was coming down on you . I really appreciate that feedback. It's nice to know you aren't going to blow the tranny to pieces from pushing it.

I was just making sure you guys were going down the right path for this.

There are a lot of new people with the X that have no idea what they are doing.

I read somewhere (Possibly from Buschur or AMS) that the SST Tans (TCU) can be reflashed.

Nah, no offense taken. I've been playing the game for a while (had a TT G35 with built motor). My tuner is very experienced and has tuned dozens of 500+ whp STI's, FP Red Evo 10's, domestics, etc and is a Cobb Pro tuner. He knows what he's doing. We wanted to test the 3-port system, Forge WGA and the limits of the trans

Do you have any more details on that? Wouldn't you have to do that if you install the SSP clutches and push out 400+ wtq?

Drives: many mitsu's

wouldn't a bigger turbo help the problem as it would raise the hp and lower the torque? It doesnt seem that there are too many MRs with bigger turbos (from looking on here) but if torque is the problem you would think that you would see this mor often.
