Launch Control???

I recently bought an Evo X MR, and the dealer said it has launch control. I found no mention of it in the manual, but I did find it mentioned in a review of the car. Does anyone know how to activate/use it? I ask because I will be autocrossing it next weekend. I am sure this has been discussed somewhere in the forum, but I couldn't find it.

I was also curious why the X is so dead right off the line. There is a few seconds of virtually no power--then an abrupt hit of power. Is this related to the stock maps or just bad turbo lag?

Stop car. Use transmission switch up to sport, then hold to activate S-sport. Turn off stability control. Push brake pedal and accelerate, it will hold the revs to like 5k then drop the brake.

It's a wet clutch, so you probably won't smell it, it'll just stop working.

Well--it worked It's not a very aggressive launch, but I suppose it is better than just driving off the line.

True, it's not particularly dramatic. But it does get more aggressive with more miles on it. The difference between launching with 1000 miles on the car and 3000 is major.

But still not really dramatic. Probably as much the 3600+ Lbs that it needs to get moving.

sorry for the dumb question and for my not great english.

1) what happen if just press the brake pedal, floor the throttle then release the brake pedal? (that means if you dont turn the ASC all off and dont activate the S-Sport mode).
Is still considered launch mode?

2) Is the clutch disengaged if you press the brake pedal even if you press the throttle? Or is bad for the clutch?

Thanks in advance.

For those who wants to know why the question:
An online friend of mine from italian forum just got a MR and asked about launch control procedure.
http://www.lancerevoclub.com/communi...p?f=12&t=11103
I told him as stated in several threads here about it:
-completely set the ASC off (press the button till hear the sound);
-set the S-Sport mode;
-press hard on brakes pedal;
-floor the throttle till the engine reach about 5500 rpm;
-quickly release the brake pedal.
Then another guy came and said that's wrong, all you need is to press the brakes pedal then the throttle to start the launch control, because the traction control and gears mode dont matter and the clutch is disengaged.
Since i dont want my friend to burn his clutch cos of a wrong advice im trying to find some support here.

EDIT: my friend tried as i said and everything went fine, then tried the other suggestion and got the slow down message.

Also make sure that you let off before you hit the 5k limit. If not you will get a slight pause before the car takes off like crazy.
