TC-SST Gearbox

Does anyone know concrete information on how much the TC-SST gearbox costs to replace? I'm assuming it can't be rebuilt and would need to be replaced, if its more than 1.5k I probably won't mod my car for a while... I've heard many rumors as high as 5-10k..

yeah..most of your local mitsubishis arent even allowed to work on the SST trannys..they send it off to a more experienced place where they replace it. they dont even service it..and yes..they cost about 8,000 ive heard. but i would think its more since the CVT costs like 5 or 6 and they can service those.

There are supposedly several SST Evo Xs out there pushing ~400HP. There's a thread in the Evo X drivetrain forum where a SS Performance have been working with a guy's SST and building stronger clutch bands for sale (you can actually pre-order them now!).
