News: Tint law in illnois :)

UPDATE: 10-30-9. We just got an update from Andrea at the Illinois Capitol Office. HB 3325 successfully passed the amendatory veto in the House and Senate. This bill becomes law effective immediately.

NOW LEGAL tint combinations.
1. Up to 35% in the Rear/up to 35% front
2. 35-30% in the rear/up to 50% front
3. IF YOU HAVE BELOW 30% TINT IN THE REAR, YOU CAN NOT HAVE FRONT TINT If you have an MPV, which include but are not limited to, SUVs, Station Wagons, minivans, Toasters, etc., and said MPV has factory installed privacy glass (smoked), you are allowed to have up to 50% tint in front.

Thank you.
Special thanks to Representative Bassi, Representative Murphy, and Dave Krause (he has the Facebook page on HB 3325), and was the person who approached Representative Suzanne Bassi with the idea/language of the bill.

not so bad guys 35% is good

Basically, three options...

1. 35% all around

2. 30% Rear, 50% Front

3. Below 30% in the rear, No tint in the front

I don't know why anybody would do 30% rear 50% front instead of 35/35....

Also, I don't know why anybody would do below 30% in the rear unless they don't care about the law or they are a chauffeur service.

I have 5% in the rear and 45% in the front. I like the rear being that dark, because you can't see what's in the back seat at all. It is very dark looking out the rear view mirror though. But you can't see crap anyway because of the wing.

I may go back and get a little darker on the front, not sure.

See the place I mentioned above. Little farther of a drive, buy they have done 3 cars now that I know of and we are all happy. $200 for all windows, but the front, any tint % you want.

Just plan to leave the car there.

Can we still do whatever we want to the rear window?

And by front; that's the front sides right?

No. Rear window is the same as the two backseat windows. Front DOES NOT include the windshield. Only the driver and passenger windows. Anything on the windshield is illegal.

Front = driver and passenger
Rear = back 3 windows

Anyone know a way to find out what percentage tint I have on my windows? I got the car with them on and never bothered removing or checking how dark they are.

I would think an experienced tinter could probably eyeball it, but there are tools out there that the shops may have as well.
