If you're not going to be going to the track then the AMS motor might be a bit of overkill. Try a buschur shortblock. They are also well built and would be cheaper.
Don't get me wrong. I love my AMS motor...never had any problems with it whatsoever. But they can be pricey.

Hey I have a few questions about your ams motor! I am new to the Evo platform and I am currently looking to purchase a ams motor. I am wondering how many miles you have on your current motor and have you had any complications with it? What issues of any did you run into? Is it really worth the money? I am not trying to do things twice or have to have my motor rebuilt just cause I missed or bought the wrong part. I know good things are worth paying for and ams r and d seems to be worth it's weight in gold. I would appericate any help with this. I have looked all over and talked to my local builders and shops and it all keeps me coming back to doing it right the first time. I want a street able reliable car. I don't see myself going to the track a whole lot and not trying to build a dyno queen.

    Thanks
