member screwed me over 1 year later

Never really understood a boost leak test until I actually read and did it myself and today I found out a member on here screwed me over a year later

I didn't realize when buying an intercooler to pressure test it, I didnt even know how a hole can can even happen.

What happened was I had a good intercooler on it, but the member said he had a bigger one and said he wanted to swap. I said yea that should be fine I asked him to send me the measurements and he asked me how do I do that. I told him you measure LxWxH well he sent me measurements and everything checked out.

so he sends me his and I send out mine and after one year later I found a hole in it... I assumed a boost leak test was suppose to leak slowy because it vents somewhere i the system.

I have his info on paypal which I wanted to post on here but I can't blame him I can only blame myself for not testing it...

Have you driven it in the last year? If yes, how do you know it was from him or that he even knew about it?

Bummer. I also learned this the hard way a few years ago.

I now inspect everything I get very thoroughly and test parts that I can.

At least you can get a MIG welder to spot weld the leaks very easily and for cheap.

Can't really blame the guy a year later.. How do you know if it didn't happen while in your possession?

Sorry, but if you got it over a year ago and now it has a hole in it, that's on you.
Not the sellers fault, because it could have easily been caused by you. Period
Sucks, but that's life.
Could easily have been done by a bouncing rock or debris on the road.

Where is the hole located on the intercooler? is it a vulnerable spot or is it on a more concealed location?

How have you been driving with it on for an entire year and never noticed a hole? Sounds like your fault to me.

close thread. One year later, you cannot know for sure that you did not get the hole by some random rock that managed to make it's way into your undercarriage.

You live and learn.
