general maftpro operation question

i have a very general question about the way maftpro works.

i'm wondering what exactly maftpro does, as a tuning system.

my understanding is that things like the safc trick the ecu by doing some conversions to wouldbesignals, this retains the stock ecu's capabilities and safety measures nad doesn't overwrite anything

utec lets you reset values and run them absolutely (overwriting), which may be dangerous... as it takes out the factory ecu's stuff that is already in there.

dsmlink lets you modify values so that under optimal conditions you get a suggested value of timing that you can input etc etc, allowing the ecu to do most of the work but also get more.

ecuplus seems to be the same as the dsmlink but needs to be developed for more features that dsmlink already has.

so what does maftpro do? i hear things about load tables... that sounds remeniscent of aem.

I'll do my best to answer.

The MAFTpro works like the SAFC in that it does alter the MAS signal to adjust fuel trims. This will allow you to retain the stock ECU safety features. Without converting to speed density, it still has AFR tracking (if you have a wideband) that makes it much better than the SAFC. You can also add a MAP sensor and boost control solenoid to control boost. I think in a lot of ways it is similar to ECU plus, but with an option for speed density and boost control.

When used in speed-density mode, you have all the control I mentioned above, but you can also tune based on load cells. There is a VE table with load points for various RPM and boost pressures so you can tune part-throttle, full-throttle, idle, and every point in between directly.

Timing control has not yet been released, so I'm not sure how that will work, but I'm guessing it will modify the crank angle and cam angle sensor signals to adjust timing.

I hope this helps.

for controlling boost do you use the gm boost sollenoid and then tune load boost maps?

No. you use the maftpro solonoid but I trhink any pressure type solonoid would work.
