I shipped one back through a company in Bayonne N.J, its easier to do on the east coast...west coast have to much red tape.

BUT now its harder everywhere.

best to buy one stateside already...but really not worth it unless its a show car.

using it for a track car...waste of money
using it as a daily driver...waste of money

sounds like you should invest in PS3 and get Gran Turismo .

The thing is that I want a low mileage/stock or near-stock model, V-Spec or V-Spec II is even better, and I don't want LHD. Sounds picky I know but if I'm gonna spend a lot of money on a car... kind of have to be picky.

People talk, without a clue of the real world. What actually has to happen with importing. I worked at Motorex 1999-2002.

Anything is possible to import - Skyline , kilo of cocaine, Full Auto AK-47. However importing something does not make it legal. Possessing something does not make it legal.

Read some FAQ's.

Honestly, it seems like if someone really wants to own an R34 that bad, it might just be better for them to move to Europe/Asia.

EDIT: Or it might be going the right way by having it transported here as a kit car, and to find your own motor/transmission. I recall hearing of someone who did that service, would sell you a rolling chassis and you would just need to find the rest.

Kaizo. They were raided by ICE, and 3 cars seized about 2 months ago.

So... that's a dead end/no go? What if I put a different motor/transmission in it instead of the GT-R powertrain? Like say a Z06 powertrain?

I have heard that this is legal, I can't say for sure though, apparently.

if you go to the NTHSA website, it has a list of importable cars. If it is not on there, then you have to go thru the whole crash test and petition the NTHSA. Not worth it. The R33 was on the list and that was about 6 months ago when i checked, but that was trying to get my Miata here,so Skylines wernt in my sights. Motorex did import Skylines awhile ago, but I heard they did something bad so they lost there license or something, the guy a couple post back worked for them, so he would probably be the source for you. There is also a rule that if the car is over 25 years old, you can import as a collectors/classic vehicle, without the whole making it emissions/crash certified. I was going to import a box skyline, but the guy kept jumping up the price. Good luck!! Go to the government website and enjoy.

When I had my Skyline shipped, the package deal was to import, do all neccessary work to make it legal to drive in the U.S.... it was done-after they added extra fees once it was time for delivery...put I paid it

I was lucky...

My co workers own was delivered on the west coast and not naming the company... drastically increased the fees due at pick up, so high that he said forget about it, they kept the money put down and kept the car. They did that to numerous service members. That company then had a garage of many hot modified JDM vehicles that they resold for more money... the military shipped it for free but we had to have a company stateside to do conversions etc.

Come to find out they were finally shut down/ raided etc.... because like the company in jersey they only did a few cosmetic changes but charged like they made it stateside legal.

Most of us spent money on engines and many other high dollar mods before sending it to the US... just to get robbed.

So No! its not worth it

The car could be a Motorex car, but then again, probably not.

What part of importing it is easy did you not understand ?

Its easy to get a car. Drive down from Canada, in a container as parts, etc.

People get cars seized, because the DOT, and EPA laws, which trump local and state laws say you need to meet certain requirements.

It takes a while for people to get this concept though their thick skulls. It takes some reading to be able to comprehend this stuff. So do the world a favor and do some reading.
