The WRX is something to consider, b/c with packages like the ones that VISHNU is offering, you can make it easily faster than the EVO with a couple grand. It really depends on what you think about the car aesthetically.
Take it from someone who has owned M3's , an Mcoupe, (2) S4's, a stage 3 WRX, a modded Turbo S beetle, and a Stage 2 337 GTI, the EVO is THE car to own. I have over 8k miles on my car and still love driving it every time I get behind the wheel. Other than a 93 octane re-flash it still pretty much stock. Modding is straightforward and reasonably cheap. Owning and driving a street car capable of mid-high 12 second 1/4 mile times with minimal mods will do wonders for your ego.
You wont be sorry, just do it !!

I'm sorry, but what luxury are you talking about in base IS300? Standard trim and options are worse then Kia's (no disrespect to Kia). By the time you add "luxury" items such as sunroof and power seats you'll be glad to get out of the dealership for under 35 large...
I had a short list when I was shopping for our next car and EVO won out (over E500). And I haven't stopped grinning yet

Dude there is nothing in the price range that will get you the performance of the evo.
I've driven a friend's STI after I had my EVO for a couple weeks and it's night and day.
The STI is a wet noodle, with a motor that makes all kinds of strange noises and a gear box that belongs on a kia..
If I had a choice to keep or get all my money back for the car, I would still keep it.

dont underestimate rotary man..there's been PLENTY of rotaries that's gone over 200,000 and some even over 300,000 on the original engine. you probably heard bad reliability from people who dont really care about cars and dont take care of the car..just thought id say that because the reliability issues u hear about is from newbie car people.
and make sure u test drive each car! then u can truly see what each car feels like! dont hesitate to test what its made of too

However, the first year 3rd gen RX7 did have a lot of problems. I would wait a year if I was planning on buying an RX8. I think they're great cruising cars, and look great too, but I would be a bit skeptical in an all new engine design.

That Rx8 is going to run you closer to $32,000 or more once you get it with what you want. Here's a window pic from one when I stopped to look at them this week.

The answer to this question is pretty simple... prioritize what is important to *you* and you will have your answer.
Evo: 95% Performance 5% Image 0% Luxury
350Z: 50% Performance 45% Image 5% Luxury
G35: 50% Performance 25% Image 25% Luxury
RX8: 40% Image 30% Luxury 30% Performance
IS300: 70% Image 25% Luxury 5% Performance
WRX: 80% Performance 15% Image 10% Luxury
This is my own completely biased opinion!

The Evo has power everything and only is missing cruise control.
Go Drive a Geo Metro. that is 0% luxury Hand Crank Windows, No Power Door locks, AM Radio, Manual Mirror adjustment ( all 3 )
How can you think 0% luxury? or even anything less than 25% for any

I was not even in the market for a new car.
In fact I think buying new cars is like throwing money out the window but, when I heard about the Evo coming here I went straight to the dealer with $500.
It is a no brainer. The Evo is the king of the hill (for the money).

ExoByte, those were exact comparrisons between those cars.
I've owned a wrx, driven a 350z, and IS300. The evo wins hands
down and that is not being biased, because I have driven them
and it's just my opinion. The 350z is my second choice, my wife
wants one so maybe later. The IS300 is just to slow. Wrx the potential is definately there.
