'if' the PO removed it - there should 'still be' a connector behind the bumper cover...

If not - the wiring harness may still be there (but be cut). Go to Ebay/get one used with pigtail and splice the wires....

Do you have a friend that would let you swap the sensor? (to see if that fixes it?)

If not - I would buy a new sensor (after inspecting the wires/connector).

I don't know if that is it 100%. But, if that is in the area like the diagram shows, then I bet it is.

Do you have access to a multimeter? If so, the test the sensor and see what resistance it shows vs the ambient temp, use the diagram I provided in the 4th post (don't hold it in your hand while testing, this will throw the temps off)

If the sensor is out of range (and the connector pins are clean and have good pin tension!!!) then I would get a sensor from mitsubishi, this is probably your only option.

If you sensor is not out of the range, then you have to test the wiring from the sensor back to the dash, this will require electrical schematics and a bit of knowledge on the system.

i couldn't test the resistance cause it only had one wire connected to it.

well according to the schematic, you should have two pins.
