i own a 2002 Lancer ES, and ever since i bought the car (used), the fuel gauge had been showing the wrong reading. Now i'm no simpleton, i knew it could have been the sending unit, so i went ahead and replaced it thinking it would be fixed; however, it did not change a thing leading me to believe there is an electrical problem. I'm not good with wiring/electrical so if anybody can help me out on here, that would be awesome.

SYMPTOMS:

When tank is full, fuel gauge would read just a little bit above half, however functions normally. Needle will travel down the gauge over time, but at "E" i still technically have another half a tank.

If anybody can help me out, that would be awesome.

If someone has different gauge faces on it before you bought it they might not have put that needle back on in the proper place. Maybe just pull that needle off and put it in the proper place?
