Timing the head

I am new to the lancer engine and it seems that i cannot get a manual from any of my local parts stores. (Been told they have discontinued them.)
I have a 2002 Lancer es (2.0l SOHC) . The car was not running when i got it. the timing belt had slipped. I pulled the head and refurbished it. Now from what i have read on here the firing order is 1342. Is this correct? My actual question is how do i make sure the timing on the head is correct? Do i line up the mark on the cam gear and make sure it is on the compression stroke for the number one cylinder?
If so what is the best process for doing this?
Thanks!

First off you can download the Factory service manual on this site just search for it (not a crappy haynes or chiltons the actual mitsu manual). Second There are timing marks on the cam and crank to get it lined up and third There is no distributor on the engine so firing order is irrelevant.

yeah +1 firing order doesn't matter...when timing, number one is at top dead center, that could be the end on the compression stroke, the beginning of the power stroke, the end of the exhaust stroke, or the beginning of the intake stroke...lol, and it all depends on on the cam anyway, so as long as it's aligned you're good.
