Werid Issue

Hey Guys, how are you? I have a question not sure what is going on with my 05 lancer es, while I was driving, the car even when brakes are applied, feels like it is still moving, so when I put the gear into Park, the engine revs by itself and goes to 4000 rpms. I left it to go eat and came back 30 mins later and it was fine again. I have told the mechanic about this but they couldn't replicate the problem when I brought it there.
This does not happen often just once in a while so over 1 year maybe 3 or 5 times.

6.21.2012-- Today when driving to a train station pick up area, car jerks while braking and than when I put it in park it has high revs, went to 3000 drops to 2000 rpm, stays there, so I shut off engine. and turn it back on it resumes at 2000 rpms at start up.

Heard it could be Brake Booster, does 05 ES have this.

Yes all cars pretty much do. I would check for vaccuum leaks to start with.

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...1/01b4450c.jpg This is a link to a pic of what the intake looks like, it is not my car's just example. Hey guys so I opened the hood to take a look myself and found out a cable was loose it was connected to engine area but not the air intake and was just dangling so I plugged it back in.

When I put in park the rpm will go up to 1.5 soemtimes 2, but once in Drive it will go down to 1000rpm or so. Is this normal

Hey Guys just an update that it is happening again now, with the cable in, it revs to 2000 rpm, while in park, and that it only does this when the car jerks/ stalls.

PS it is an auto.

check for vacuum leaks. take some starting fluid, and with the car running, spray it around under the engine bay and see if the idle spikes up. if it don't appear to have a vacuum leak, I would take a look at the throttle positioning sensor and maybe the MAF sensor

You can also use cigarette smoke to find a vaccuum leak.
