Question About Dash Lights

Hello,

I have a problem with the dash lights and am wondering if anyone else has had same problem and how to go about correcting the problem.

My car is a 03 oz with red dash lights on cluster and green lights in dash area. Anyway the lights work but when you turn the headlights on they go dim, like dim enough that you can see the speedometer but not the odometer. The clock area and other lights also go dim as well when the headlights are turned on.

Does anyone know the cause of the dim lights and how to fix it?

Justin

They usually go dim because they assume that when you turn them on its dark.

That being said, they dim them so there not blinding you at night.

Can you still read them at night?

Gabe,

You can see the speedometer , though its very dim, but the odometer/tripometer you can not see. Its really dim. Tonight my mom put her Solstice in the shop so I loaned her the Lancer , after she arrived home to her house she called to ask how to adjust the lights bcuz she couldn't see them well. Anyway, I told her they are adjusted at their brightest but that they are just hard to see.

Is this during night or day driving?

Gabe,

Its during night driving, in daytime I dont need lights to see the speedometer so it would be a non-issue if driving in daylight hours.

Link62,

Thanks for that picture but believe me Ive adjusted the dail , in your pictures, as bright as it goes and still cant see the light.

On another thread I found some simular problems that involved the fuses so Im going to change all the fuses to see if it helps anything. I dont think it a blown fuse though bcuz if it was the lights wouldnt be dim as theyd not even be on at all.
