weird issue on a/c

so when i set idle or in traffic my a/c will click on and click off right away but when i am driving it works fine and then today i noticed my fan for the radiater not turning on and my water temp start climbing i pretty sure its my thermostat on that but can that affect the a/c or is that a separate issue??
