K&N Drop in Filter Question...

Bought my GTS 4 months ago and couldn't be happier!

Just like with all my cars, I switched to a K&N filter. Interesting that it did change the sound of the engine a little... I know a CAI will do that, but I've never noticed this happen to my other cars with just a drop in filter....

Its a good sound - just curious if anybody else is using a K&N filter and noticed a change in engine sound?

Saving up for an exhaust next!

Yeah, I put a K&N filter in my GTS and my wifes ES Sport and it did the same thing. I am getting alittle better gas mileage too.

I had the same thing happen with the green high performance drop in air filter. The engine sounded slightly different and the mileage went up slightly.

Make sure that the bottom of the filter assembly is together all the way. When I changed my filter I aslo noticed a sound difference and the bottom of the assembly wasnt together all the way.

Alas, THANKS dustyp34... The bottom of my filter assembly was NOT together all the way (I had actually checked when I first noticed the sound and it looked fine. You have to move the assembly around to realize that it is actually loose).

In my mind, kinda poorly designed! Easy to leave it loose, but then again, I should've known better!

Tightened the box and the engine sound is back to the original... I did like the way it sounded when the box was loose... Hopefully nothing bad got in there... Am going to get my oil changed tomorrow...

To everyone else, if you replaced your air filter and noticed a change in engine sound, may be worthwhile to check the box is completely tight (particularly, the bottom part).
