Radiator, help, stuck in Wyoming.
I need a new radiator thanks to a damn owl diving infront of my car and taking out the lower air dam grill and cracking the radiator. I'm stuck in a hotel in Wyoming until I can order a new one and put it in. I have been looking online for one to have shipped to me. So far I have found a stock one (Es model lancer) for $450 plus shipping and an aftermarket one for evo x for $250. Was wondering if they are the same. I feel like its one of those parts that should be pretty similar between the two models. Thanks.

call them tell them you need it shipped next day or something.
$178 shipped, pay an extra $50 or so and have it overnighted!
sorry to hear that a damn owl hit you

heh how coincidental, i bought my first 08 es from there (or my parents did) then i bought my 09 gts from lone star, didnt like the salesman that sold my parents the car because he didnt call me back after repeated attempts of telling him HEY im graduating now, gonna make 60k a yr and need a car i want an 09 gts.
yea even with that he never called me back or bothered to check on any used 08s or used 08 evos they had in stock online. so i went to lonestar.
let me know how the radiator stuff works out, i hope i was helpful.

So, the best way to get the radiator out is....? On my vr4 it just slides out the top once you unbolt everything, but this looks different. I checked out the "How-To remove front bumper" thread, was kind of hoping that I don't have to do all that...

F**K! So, 20 miles after dropping in a new radiator, the car dies. Will not start and there's oil on almost everything on the back passenger side of the engine bay. Called mitsu road side assistance that comes with warranty for towing, and had it hauled to nearest mitsu dealer. They tell me today that the head is warped and there's water/coolant in the crank case.
I wasn't given a definite yes or no, but they service guy was saying its not looking good for warranty repair and that the service manager is reviewing it. My question is, shouldn't there have been a sensor that shut the car off BEFORE it got hot enough to warp the damn head.
Either way, if mitsu doesn't wanna repair it, then I'm going to attempt and file a claim with my insurance company considering the original source of this problem was a collision with an OWL...!
Thoughts, opinions...round of Russian roulette, me first??

Do you have the original radiator? Hopefully there are still some feathers in it.... no joke. Or, did you at least take some pictures before the repair? I have an insurance agent in the family and it's gonna be a crapshoot, according to them. If the insurance company would have seen it before the repairs you made, they may have had it towed to a local mitsu dealership to have it checked out. The mitsu dealership may have found another problem that you didnt see and everything could have been fixed. I'm not trying to be the bearer of bad news, but there are a lot of "what ifs".... good luck with it all
