Pixelated Crack on LCD Display

I drive a 2008 Lancer GTS with 28,000 miles on it.

I got into the car this morning and started it, and I noticed a small pixelated "crack" on the lcd screen between the speedometer and the tachometer. It displays on all of the screens that can be cycled through and doesn't go away.

Here is a picture of what I'm talking about:

At the bottom you'll notice the random red pixels that shouldn't be there but are. Has anyone else had this problem and do you think it is something that will be covered under warranty?

If it interferes with the readability of some of the functions ide say yes take it in. If and i mean IF they lcd is part of the enclosure and cannot be replaced which means they need to order you an entire replacement gauge pod section try and get the one from the 09. the blue is sooo much nicer looking.

Yeah, I'm probably going to take it in as soon as I get a chance. The crack is already getting bigger. I just don't know what would cause this problem out of nowhere.

No one else has had this happen?

If you can get to the LCD screen itself, try gently rubbing it with a pencil eraser...good trick for getting rid of a lot of "dead" pixels.

That picture looks like its a circuit failure not a problem with the screen. I've seen it before when I've done some lcd prototyping for one of my classes. Bring it to the dealer, it should def be covered under warranty.

Well I gave them a call yesterday and told them to call me back, so we'll see what happens.

Great, I hope this doesn't become a trend. Audi's have this same exact problem.

Well that's a bummer, bet all you see is the crack when you look down now. Hope your dealer replace it for you. GL
