After looking at the new engine i have decided that it is in awesome condition minus a little dust on the outside...nothing hard to clean! I have a little bad news though the new engine is only a core engine...meaning i have to use all of the parts off of the old one minus the block, head, enternals, etc. ya know! i may be able to sell the old head...i will check and see if it is damaged in any way. i also found out what the problem was that caused all of this...it all started when i let the car go about 4,000 miles past my oil change milage, a lack of oil and water in the engine later and BOOM! Blew the rod right through the side of the damn thing! oh well it is kinda like i have a new car now! hahaha the mechanic says that the rest of the parts will be able to be transfered from the old motor to the new one with the exception of the starter...does anyone know of the price of one of these?

the engine was $350.20 and the install will be $550.00...is that bad or not? dont laugh at me when i say this but...i went to nopi today....i hate that store....anyways, i bought a bypass valve for the intake and i am going to order a new wheel well...does anyone have on that they dont need? i am hoping that when i cure my hole in the wheel well problem and put the bypass vavle on ....this shiz wont happen again...but with my luck it probably will. the bypass valve only cost $47.22 for an AEM one that matches my intake. does anyone know if they actually work?

I'm supposed to be picking my car up tomorrow! For some reason I feel like it won't be done! That would suck pretty bad...and I would have to drive my moms Tahoe for another day or two! I may have forgotten how to drive a manual by then...or not haha I'll keep updating!

47.22 for a bypass valve? isnt a bypass valve another open element filter, but further up th intake tube? so when the primary filter gets clogged, the bypass acts as a seconday filter, right. i think 47.22 is a little high for a smaller filter attachment for your intake. but 350 for and engine and 550 for the fix, not bad. congrats on finding an engine intown. i had to order a block for my old 95 grand am...from detroit, and im in AL. it cost like 250-300 for the block alone. and all i had was a hairline crack. so congrats on the new engine, sorry for the broken one, ahaha

well...my car has 96,000 miles on it so there hasnt been a warranty for awhile! haha
i have found out some bad news today...i called the mechanic because the car was supposed to be done today and ready for me to pick up. he says that when he pulled the old engine out "somehow" the control arms snapped in half...BULLS@#T! he wont admit fault and will not pay for the parts, they will be $70 a piece, and supposedly he expects me to pay for that? they werent broke before he got the car. i called the guy that i got the engine from and he says that you cant just break control arms....you have to be in a VERY bad accident in order for this to happen. so do i pay for the control arms and keep my mouth shut or do i make the guy pay for the parts and risk him effing something up on purpose? if i order the control arms they wont be here until thursday or friday. what do i do?
PLEASE HELP

WOW!! there is so much of a difference between the old and the new...it is AWESOME!!! the guy said that he was sorry for all of the problems and the whole three week thing...so he tightened up the shift linkages, replaced all of the hoses and belts, and made me a freeflow catalitic onverter which is kinda like the rrm one. my car is soooooo loud now...but it is awesome! overall waiting was nothing now that i have the car back. i will get pictures of the hole in the old block and will have them posted tomorrow!
