Trouble getting into first
Hi guys,
I'm new to the forums, just bought an WW ES 5spd last month, and gotta say i love it!
I am having a problem though with shifting into first. I have driven manual before my lancer, but I noticed that sometimes the car has issues getting back into first gear. Sometimes when I get to a red light, I am unable to shift it into first, coming off a complete stop. When this happens, I either have to let the car roll, or I shift it into second, then it sometimes will go into first, if not, i have to play with the shift knob a bit before it slides into first. I always make sure the clutch is fully depressed, but it still locks up sometimes. I was just wondering if anyone else has this issue with their lancer. Thanks. =)

might want to get it checked out, i never had that problem
the only problem i've had is that sometimes i cant get into reverse gear when i first start the car up, but that is because the transmission fluid is too cold, i shift into like any of hte other gears then put it into reverse and it works. but that isnt really a problem because nothing like that ever happens once the car gets running

Do you mean you want to get into first gear before coming to a complete stop? If so then it's normal and you shouldn't force the gear in. I never shift into first before coming to a stop.

I mean coming off the stop, so the car is at a dead stop, at a red light for instance. And of course I never force it in, usually just put it in second, then it slides back in to first. I never had this problem with any other car before.

I did try to get it checked out when the car was under 1k miles but the tech said that it was only because the clutch had not been broken in yet. He told me to wait till i passed the 1k break in point and it's now at 1.6k, still doing the same thing.
I also have that reverse gear issue, but I thought that was normal. Only thing is it still has trouble shifting after it's warmed up.
Guess it's time to take it back in to Mitsu for another check up.
