Drives: 2008 ES Lancer

Tranny popping out of 1st

When I'm at a dead stop and then I try to drive in first, it pops out. I not having any problems shifting into any other gears nor am I having any problems starting from second gear. All my friends are telling me it has something to do with either my sychro's or my linkage. Mitsubishi is telling me its more than likely my clutch wearing out. The service department is telling me their going to have my car for a while and I just wanted to know if anyone else has been having this problem before I give them my car for a while. I'm open ears to advise for everything especially for performance clutch if I need to buy one.

unless uve been peeling out every time u move the car i doubt ur clutch is worn down enough to have any problems. make sure that u have the clutch all the way down and put first all the way in. first and reverse will always be a little harder to get into because you are usually at a stand still. just put a little more elbow grease into it.

It isnt the clutch---its the syncro's. Its a classic symtom, popping out of gear.

Something similar sometimes happens with mine... But it's when I shift from 1st to 2nd. It sometimes feels like it's popping out when I'm taking it out of 1st gear to go into 2nd. It will mostly do it when the engine is cold. If I depress the clutch a bit longer before I move the shifter, it's usually ok...

I hope I'm not gonna have problems with the tranny down the road because I have the TWM short shifter and I'm sure the dealer would happily tell me it's because of it...
