cvt?

I got a question i've had for my car for almost a year and a half and I've noticed that people are always saying how slow the cvt is and that most of those people have a tts with the spotrtronic trans. Now here's my question does the cvt in the we and the cvt in the tts have different components. I'm asking thin because I don't feel that bog that everybody talks about and I haven't taken an official 60time but I know that I hit it in or close to almost 9 seconds and not 12like some other peopl. What do you guys think.

It's only slow off the line, u can't launch it or anything. Also if u baby it and drive like a grandma for awhile you will start to notice that it becomes very slow. But if you do alot of spirited driving you should have no problems... I would even say its faster than a manual car and can beat it in a race from a roll of about 15mph or so. I have never seen a car pull so hard after 70mph and I've had a 05 mustang GT, 98 turbo'd eclipse, and a cavalier(lol)

I was just wondering cause everybody always says how slow it is and how the car acts like it doesnt want to let them past the 2500 RPM mark but i have no problem jumping right to the 3000PRM mark. Also if you are "racing" or what ever eventhough I dont condone street racing you can get off the line faster with this car if you press the gas just enough to get the RPMs up some while you are holding the break.

i race my cousins jeep, you know a boxy 1998 one with a 4L 200hp or so because he wanted to see if hed win... at a dead stop he beat me 1 of out 2 times but when we did from a roll at about 20 he was way in my rear view mirror....so i guess it just depends...

i also have no problems geting the rpms upto 4000

I sometimes have a little bog like when im at a yield sign and just barely stop enough to look then go, it seems a little sluggish at times. but once its over about 2300 rpms its fine. And i agree that cvt pulls nice and hard from about 60-90. If I use the sport shifting I dont get the bog at all. I wonder if the cvt is changing from first to second too soon or something.

I find it slow on take off but once it gets going it is ok. But somedays, it is responsive even in take off. I don't drive hard.

Yeah, sometimes its excellent at take off, like once a month. Those are the times that I wish a Civic Si was stopped next to me lol

i wouldnt say its faster than manual from a roll or dead stop

cvt and manual both been dyno'd and the cvt has about 10 less hp n tq as the manual does. also the cvt is a couple hundred pounds heavier cuz of the tranny
also theres a delay from when u press paddle to downshift to when the ecu actually gives it to you. though short its longer than manuals (assuming the guy who drives manual knows how to drive it properly). u'd understand if u drove the manual lancer right after u drive the CVT =P

I find that in manual mode, the bog is somewhat lessened. Apart from that, there's not really much, since the CVT literally has a mind of its own.
