Stuck on 1st gear
Hi follks,
some may know, i got my 5mt tranny ripped somehow and changed it from warranty.
but the problems doesn't stop buggin me sadly...
when i got my car from the service, got it done, i drove back to the neighbourhood and parked my car... it sat still for 5-6 days there and today i sat down in my car as usual started the engine pushed the clutch and suprise! shift knob doesn't get out of 1st gear... i pulled it a lil hardly not like cracking it out but hard, it didn't answer me... i also tried my chance after i stopped the engine...
2morro i'm gonna call the service baq and beg for a solution possibly but i want to hear from you guys out there if have any ideas....
thnx!

updates...
2day a guy from service came by and checked out the car.. he unscrewed the air intake and some parts of tranny and tried if he can change the gear from front but he couldn't.. so a towing vehicle came and took my car to the service... they said the tranny gonna change compeletely...
whats weird, that happened twice in 1 month, last time the gear box f...ed up while i was trying to put dat in rear gear, and now i got my car gear box compeletely changed an they said the problem solved afterall i parked my car in a lot and the other day gear was stuck on 1st gear...
i lost my trust in mitsubishi this is my 3rd mitsubishi and i think there is a major issue with new lancers... but possibly that doesn't enclose u guys in usa or japan or somewhere else, we'r having 1.5 mivec engines so the tranny is different i guess..
sum of it, i'm gonna possibly wait an other month for the parts to arrive and get it done... boring..
cheers..

i'm really excited about this forum... everybody talkes and has an opinion about rims, exhausts, springs and what so ever, but i guess nobody has technical know-how... i think i'm not gonna watch this forum anymore.. i prefer to share technical info..
bye

Most people on here wont have much tech knowledge when it comes to transmissions, especially the one on your car. Transmissions are one of those car components that your average enthusiast usually doesn't know a lot about. Part of this is due to how complicated most transmissions are, and due to the fact that most people dont have the ability to take one off of a car since they do not own a shop with a hoist and vehicle lifts. Don't write off the entire forum just because we can't help you on one issue. There are a lot of smart people on this forum and may not have seen your thread yet. Give it some time.

Just an idea
i don't know if you have read your owner manual yet but it there you can find a troubleshooter for that particular problem it says that if that ever happen to you, you should let go of the clutch and push it all the way down one more time and that should get you out of first gear. it also gives you the reason why, it says that its because your tranny is cold... give it a try who knows it might be as symple as that ....

I agree with the cold thing, my gearbox always gets stuck in reverse. If you put a little extra muscle into it it will pop out. The other solution is, if you roll the car a few inches, it should be enough to break the torque on the gears and let it slip out.
