05 Tranny Noise/Vibration

Hey guys this is actually my first ever post haha....but I just had a used/rebuilt tranny put in my car this week and I just got the car back today. I know it won't be the same as my old one but its making a weird vibration and a loud noise. I'm not quite sure what it is. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what this might be, or maybe I'm just worrying about it to much. Sorry I don't know to much about trannys so any help would be appreciated.

You're not even saying if it's a standard or auto trans...

Does it happen in gear? in neutral?
Does it appear and disapear when you push/release the clutch?
Happens when the trans is cold? hot?

Sorry I wasn't even thinking about that haha. Its a standard transmission. It happens in the rpm band from like 2000ish-4000ish. It doesnt happen in 5th gear or in reverse only in 1st-4th. The sound and vibration occur when the trans is hot and cold it doesnt matter which. It doesnt happen when the clutch is pushed in only when I've already released the clutch all the way. Its very difficult to describe. It isnt necessarily running poorly or anything like that. I'll try to get a sound clip up in the next day or so when I have time.

t/c? Do manual transmissions even have a torque converter, if thats what you meant by t/c? I was always under the assumption that the clutch in a manual transmission acted as the torque converter and in automatic transmissions since a clutch is absent, the torque converter is used in place of the clutch. I could be wrong though, as I said before I really don't know that much about transmissions. Anyways I'm taking the car back to the shop tomorrow, so I'll let you guys know what happens. Thanks for your help.

Lol yea, theres no torque converter. Sounds like maybe a bad throwout bearing.

Welcome to the club lol
If you can pull and put the transmission on your own, it's a peice of cake. Once the trans is removed, it's 3 bolts.

It's this(in this case it's actually what's left of it):

And unless things go really wrong, your bell housing should not be gunked the way mine was and is pictured here

The Throw out bearing is actually part of the slave cylinder or whatever it's called.

The guy drives an ES, so it can't be the non-existent transfer case

Thanks for all of your help, I really appreciate it. We'll see what the problem is when I bring it back to the shop. I shouldn't be having any problems with it because they replaced the transmission and the clutch assembly. So $2300 later I'm pretty p.o.ed that this is happening.

Do you think it could cause me major problems if I continue to drive on it? It's just I can't get the car to shop today and I have no other way of getting to and from work.

If the TOB is indeed the problem, you might be able to go a million miles before anything happens, or it could just give up next week. Either way, I'm positive you have enough time to bring it in.

Okay so it turns out the cause of this noise/vibration was not the TOB but rather the cross member is bent and rubbing against the transmission. So with that said can anyone tell me where to get a new or used cross member?

I would scavange the the local scrap yards for that part.

Try a junk yard.Or call a dealer but I think they would be pricey.
