Shifter linkage
There are two links going from the shifter toward the front of the car.
Does any body know which gears those those two linkages control? Is it the first link works 1st and 2nd and the other linkage works the rest of the gears? Or maybe 1st thru 3rd for one, and 4th,5th,R, for the other etc...etc...?
Its Seems there's no info on this as far as i can find

I think the small one is for the forward gears while the large one is for reverse.

The one of the right is the shift cable. (big)
The one on the left is the select cable. (small)
That's what the service manual says.

None of the above. One controls the left/right movement as articulated by the shifter, and the other does the up/down. Have someone move the shifter while you watch under the hood and you'll see.

So you are saying the Mitsu factory service manual is wrong?
I assume the small cable (select cable as it's called by Mitsu) moves up/down to select the gears in that position. And the big cable (shift cable) moves to the different positions (1,2), (3,4), (5, R).

What you're saying is exactly the same as what I said. The big cable does the left/right, and the small does the up/down. Just have someone sit in the car and play with the shifter while you watch the cable ends and you'll see how it works in like two seconds.

cool! Never thought to just look at the other end of those cables to see what they do. But that makes sense.

all of you are wrong, the big one sets the flux capacitor to travel into the future and the little one to travel to the past . .. . duh.

The flux capacitor? You've gotta be using plutonium 232. You can't be using that cheap generic brand plutonium. It'll foul up the Fluxing and you won't get the full 1.21 GIGAWATTS.

Oh yeah. I would check the linkage like someone mentioned on your thread. I don't have the shop manual with me, but I believe there's only one cable for the automatic.

I've got the books, three to be exact. It's about the size of an encyclopedia.
However I think there are some people selling CDs on ebay.
A must have IMHO if you are doing more than putting on a few bolt on mods here and there.
