I'm looking over the circuit diagrams trying to figure this out. Its tricky because on the auto models the wire from the output shaft speed sensor goes to the powertrain control module before going to the gauge cluster and on the manual models the vehicle speed sensor goes directly to the gauge cluster. So here is what I have come up with:
Connect the red wire on your harness to the black w/ white stripe wire on your speed sensor harness. For the other wire on your speed sensor, which is black w/ yellow stripe, you will have to connect it to the wire in Pin 80 on the powertrain control module harness. The wire in this pin is also black w/ yellow stripe. It is in the middle row, 3rd pin from the end when looking at the harness going into the powertrain control module. There are three harnesses going into the module. The harness that is 12 pins wide is the correct one this wire is on.
Hook these wires up and you should be golden.

Awesome, maybe you could do a write up or something because I really want to do this but I have no idea how much I am looking at. If you could give us a price range that would be cool too.

No, I mean the PCM. This is used in automatic transmission vehicles. It is like an ECU just for the transmission that governs the valves and shifting. Manual transmission cars do not have these. You need to wire the speed sensor so that it bypasses the PCM (if it is still installed). The instructions I gave are spot on.

My mistake. The PCM is the ECU for the auto Lancer. It is located behind the glove box, as you know. Sorry about that. I got lost in the terminology of the circuit diagrams tracing down wires through multiple pages.
