Rear Strut Bar

So I was looking at the options last night for rear strut bars on the 09 lancer gts. Not many options I found, so I decided to whip up some sketches out of sheer boredom, im gonna head to the steel warehouse by my house pick up a few pieces and see if I can weld together a bolt on rear strut bar with some mounts and stuff, something gtspec like. Ill post pics when im done. Was wondering if anyone here had fabricated their own rear strut bar/brace?

I added pictures of a bracket i fabricated out of graph paper, next step is to cut it out of sheet metal and weld mounting hangers.

good job but I honestly don't think a rear strut brace is worth doing or will yield any noticeable benefit.

it looks good. but im not sure that sheet metal will do good for a rear brace. you could look into getting an evo brace or a ralliart brace. i dont see the sheet metal yeilding any benifits and maybe a little bit of false security in the brace.

haha even with a quench and temper process? 1650 degrees uniform heat then drop it in water since it is a low grade carbon plate. I think it will be plenty strong. But this is just a mock up im thinking about getting a thicker plate and maybe building another one, we'll see how it holds up with the heat treatment.

Heat treated, they are a nice blue now very rigid and strong. Once I weld them they should be extremely solid! VV

Finished product, you can definately notice a stiffer back end, the sheet metal holds up nicely but ill see about making it a little bit thinker.
