Need to find a good all season or winter tire...

I was told by the dealer that I need to get a new set of tires by winter what would be a good but cheap set? I need P205/60 R16... Not sure if I should get all seasons like it came with or just straight winter tires...

I got a set of Goodyear Eagle GT tires for my dad and they have amazing grip and are quiet. The tread pattern looks attractive and very aggressive. I haven't tried them in snow yet though.
The problem with buying a set of snow tires for all year round use is that after the soft outer layer of the tread is worn out they're basically like all-season tires and not very good ones.
Unless you're planning to switch back and forth between all season tires and winter tires, I would recommend getting all season tires.

If your going to go the all season route, I would say take a look at the GT Altimax tire.

Solid design, good wet traction. And give you a good feel for winter conditions. Its largest plus just may be a very good tread life.

The Eagle GT tire that Master AK has, is a good tire as well. Well equipped.

I have just concluded talks with Alternative Tire Manufacturers as well as placed some calls Mitsubishi USA. And I have come to the conclusion that the Dunlop SP 5000 need to be replaced. Currently 1 manufacturer up here in Canada have agreed to help with the replacement on a trial basis. In terms of the USA, they are watching the situation. Dunlop themselves have been all over the place with their responses. In Canada, I was told that Dunlop recommends, rotating their tires every 6000 - 8000 km and the fact that I didnt do that, well they cant replace my tires but offer me a prorated cost replacement. But my only question is, if its for the same tire, ahhhh thanks but no thanks.

As of right now. My support is behind the following 3 tires for an official Replacement for the Dunlop SP 5000 (retired)

1) Continental ExtremeContact DWS (225 / 45 / 18) Top rated
2) GoodYear Eagle GT (215 / 45 / 18) Decent snow performance
3) General Tire Exclaim (21 / 45 / 18) A summer tire better than the Dunlop SP 5000 in snow

tires

Nothing can compare with a specific winter tire. All seasons may get you buy on mild days. But if you want real traction and grip you need winter specific tires. Either stud or studdless. Dunlop Grasspic or blizzak.
