All season vs. Summer Performance tires
I've been reading through the posts and calling a few shops. Wondering which would be more ideal for the 2003 lancer. These tires will only be used in the summer with mostly street driving and ocassional track on the weekends:
1) Sumitomo H rated summer tires (195/60/15)
2) Falken 912 All season performance tires (205/55/15)
I am leaing towards the 912s as there seem to be good reviews on here, but I am hesitant as I don't need all season tires.......
any feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks

I can't say anything about the Sumitomo other than the name freaks me out and sounds like Chinese bullcrap.
I've driven on 912s and I'd do it all over again any time.

ya, I read about your previous posts and how you liked them...the only thing about them is they are all season tires and not all summers.....tho a lot of ppl said they shouldn't be used in the snow...
I probably don't need pure performance summer tires with the lancer anyways???

Really depends on what you want out of the tire. The a/s tires will ride better, last longer, and provide cold weather/snow traction. Summer only tires will be a better dry grip and steering response, but be noisier and shorter lived.
Both are good options just in different ways. Being you live in Toronto I'd look at an a/s unless you have a separate set of snow tires.

I would go for the summer tires and get dedicated winters. The winter force tires will last forever, trust me.
But if cash is a problem I would go with Neals recommendation and get the a/s tires. Best of both worlds. In winter it will at least give you a fighting chance

well, I already have winters, so these would only be used for summers anyways......
I'm now thinking of the Kumho SPTs, it's a little bit more, but if it performs better, why not lol
