Tire question

Right now I have a set of 17"x7.5" with 215/40/17 tires on it. I'm due for some new tires and I was wondering if I should stick with the 215 or go to 205. Anyone have suggestions, or like pro's and con's for me? Also these are purely summer wheels; I have other wheels I use in winter.

Car is a '05 OZ rally.

If it matters, I'm looking to do a strut/spring combo to lower it here eventually also.

The narrower tire will cut thru water/snow better than the wider, the wider better response and dry grip. Differences are minimal however. If lowering you might want to go with the 205's to make sure proper clearances are there.

I was just thinking about this today. The time has come for me to get new tires as well. I'm running 205/40/17 and a +40 offset, while lowered on tein coilovers with no rubbing issues. I'm thinking about going to 215/40, how did you like them?

Also, do you do any kind of racing or have some performance mods done to the car?

I like the 215's. I think I might keep them actually. I only run this in the summer really since I have other wheels for the winter. The 215's grip pretty good on stock suspension. I dont plan on racing this car because I'm not going to heavily mod it ( Auto sucks ). Only mods I got are wheels, exhaust, tint, and some visuals like fogs, VG, tint.
