Tires
Hey everyone. I rotated my tires earlier today and noticed that my rear tires were pretty bad. The way or shape one side was thinning or wearing out was really bad (closer to the interior side wall). I was really surprise since these were my rear tires not the front. The front tires were actually not bad but the rear ones I just bought maybe 4 months ago and they are wearing out very uneven. I just wanted to see what everyones thoughts are. My car isnt lowered yet and nothing is done to my suspension at this point. Im saving some cash for my KYB shocks since I already bought the RRM spring. Has anyone experience this?
I appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

Has this happened before? Is this the same for both rears evenly? I have heard of cars coming from the factory with a bad alignment that caused similar situations. Regardless, it sounds like you need an alignment.

The exact same thing happened on my IX when I bought it new with the advans the backs wore out quick from the inner part. When it was time to get a new set I had to get an alignment and rotate the tires more often. Almost two years later and no problems yet.

I think it is your alignment. If the rear wheels are towed in or out slightly, even if it is not noticeable to the eye, when the car accelerates, it will load the rear tires and create negative camber. I don't think its related to your springs or sway bar or you would have noticed alot of body roll in the car when turning.

Yeah a good alignment and camber setup can save your tires and also help out with handling to.

My friend and my dealer have both told me that the 08 Lancer does not need an alignment, as there are no setting to be adjusted for the setup, and there can be only one way to install them.
Is this true?

I just changed my pirellis b/c of this. all 4 of them were like that.
the told me it was due to driving hard and my alligment was messed up cause i never got an alligment after I replaced one of the struts.
to prvent this get a good alligment and balance and rotate your tires more often...tires are expensive so take care of them
I ripped thru a set of pirelli p zero neros in 20,000 miles...and I don't drive that hard...i think

Thanks for the input everyone. Im also waiting for my KYB Struts from RRM. Once I drop my car, I'll get cambers from RRM and get my alignment done.

idk what your dealer is smoking, mine did an alignment for me a while back..found that the toe was out on both front tires which was causing that inner tire wear. Havn't noticed anything yet...keeping fingers crossed
