225/45/18 - On Stock GTS Wheel

Guys I am in need of new tires and want to get some Potenza RE960AS Pole Position tires but the closest size I see is a 225/45/18. Will that fit on a Stock GTS 18" Wheel?

Isn't the stock wheel only 7" wide?

You should try 235/40/18.....seems like it would fit better and look better!?!?!

225 is SMALL and with a 225/45, DeNG!!! I would think it that be awkward. \:

If the stock wheels are only 7" wide though a 235 won't fit, at least not properly.

Sucks because the Potenza RE960AS Pole Position tires don't seem to come in a size that will fit our stock wheel.

I think you need to take another look at what the numbers on a tire mean.

225/45r18 tire is WIDER than a 215/45R18 that comes on the GTS. The tire is 10mm wider to be exact and 45(height of the sidewall) is 45% of the cross section of the tire. In effect he is running a WIDER and TALLER tire so no that tire is not small. a 235/40R18 is closer in overall diameter to the stock tire however the rims are too narrow for this tire to fit properly. A 225/45R18 or 225/40R18 tire will work. The 225/40 will make your speedometer off a bit more but should be ok. Ummm I think DiscountTireDirect as a size conversion chart to show you how much your tire size effects your speedometer.

I've been running some Continental (sorry, our cars are -not- fast enough to rate a 150 dollar tire) 225/35/18's on my GTS with no problems. The speedometer is only off by about 2mph+ at 60mph so it's not very bothersome.

I bought some Cooper Zeon 225 45 18 a week ago and no rubbing anywhere. Full lock or not. And, they look good to.
