Staggered Fitment on 08 Lancer?
so i think im going to do something that hasnt been done, ive done some research and pretty much found out that running a staggered fitment on a FWD car is basically pointless performance wise. i know a lot of VW owners do it not sure why just them but i think im going to jump on the banwagon. i have a widebody kit for my lancer coming in and im gonna need wider wheels. i found the perfect set only problem is it only came in both 18x8+35 or staggered 18x8+35 in the front and 18x9+35 in the back. since my car is going to be mostly for looks i think i decided im going to go ahead and go with the staggered setup instead of buying both the 18x8 wheels and having to get spacers.
so with all that being said what tire do you think i should run for the rear? im thinking of running 235 for the fronts and also 235 for the rear..but i may look into 245s for the rear. not sure yet. also does anyone think i will need fender work on the rear? i think i should be fine with the fronts for now..but the rear i think i may need to roll the fenders not sure though.

It hasn't been done for a reason: It's stupid. "A bunch of VW guys did it" doesn't sound like a good reason to go ahead and do it and if you want the looks of a staggered setup with wider wheels on the back, well, you bought the wrong car. I don't think that the looks of the car will benefit from this if other guys that will see your car will think the same way as me. Also, if you decide to do it, a 255 wide tire would be best on the back.

well i came to the decision because i didnt want to run 18x9 in the front since i dont think anyone is running that wide of a wheel yet..and honestly i think on the lancer i dont think you will be able to notice the staggered wheels..i want the look of just spacers which inch spacers is what i was looking into anyway

Is your widebody kit for the back only? If you're not sure about putting 18x9 in the front you can always try 18x8.5. Somebody here has the evo X wheels (18x8.5) +33 offset which looks aggressive enough IMO.

if youre willing to do some fender work i would go ahead and just run 9s in the front..now which tire i cant tell you..you could go with a 245 but im not sure how that would work on the lancer..but if you go staggered either your going to A look like a guy with a RWD mitsubishi which dosent make sense. or B a guy with a huge ass spacer in the back..which is probably what you're aiming for..but if you have a widebody and wide fenders in the rear like an evo x..then i guess it wouldnt be as noticeable..
the only reason i could think of doing this is becuse the wheels only come in one setup and you're getting a ridiculously good price for it..even this i would reconsider but no you cant damage your car really from running a setup like that.

^ yeah and i know people who put GSR wheels on the lancer and didnt have much problems..which is why im thnking i should be able to run 18x9 in the front and rear...and roll the fenders without running into any serious problems

sorry but its not only pointless performance wise but its actually bad for it performance wise
u'll put more understeer onto ur car than it already has
wide tires in the back = more grip in the rear less grip in the front
add that onto 60/40 weight distrubution
and FWD
= understeering to hell
