Questionable Sales

Alright I have a question I was hoping someone could answer

I bought a tire and rim package last week and was told it would be ready in about a week, so being impatient I called today to check up and see.

The response was the tires are on back order and it could be another two weeks.
I recieved a phone call an hour later saying he has some sorta good news, being he can get a different size tire for me a week sooner.

I had originally ordered a 205/40/17, and he said he could get a 215/40/17 a week sooner but it would cost me an extra $15 a tire, he also continued to say the 215's were actually recommended for this rim, now why would he have not just done that in the first place? So is this just bull and just trying for another $60 of mine? I clearly remember there being the set of rims I wanted just in the wrong color on the showroom floor with 205's on the rims and I could have bought them and never known the 215's were recommended...The tires and rims on the showroom floor sure looked fine to me...

Hopefully someone can help me out Thanks...sorry if its a little long winded.

The link below is for the rim I bought.

just demand a refund and go else where. That or try to pull a discount or something from them.

Well, 205/40/17 wasn't a good size to go with in the first place. 215/40/17 is closer to the stock tire size, and IMO, a better choice.

It might, don't know the stock ES tire size. Use this to figure it out - http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Edit: According to this thread - Everything you need to know about Rims and Tires - the size you're getting is still the better option.

Also, moved.

For his 03 ES, 205/40/17 is bang on althought the recommanded upsize is 205/45/17
