Lancer Rear Brakes... Options?
Lancer Rear Brake Conversions...?
There's gota be more options then "not needing" them or the expensive $932 RPW set.
Ya i know its not an EVO but that doesn't mean you give up on the poor car.
"Living with drum brakes is like living with a butterfly tattoo on your forehead, ya its allot of trouble to get it removed but at least you won't look like a little sissy girl every where you go."
What you guys think? Is there a cheap junk yard conversion out there to be found or is it just hopeless?

Agreed!
You can do the Ralliart 5-lug conversion for both front and rear.

Uh....drums aren't that big of a deal and don't "hurt" braking, at least not the degree your comment makes it appear. Most of your braking is done by the front, the rears handle a reduced percentage (say 40%) and are more than capable in stock form. They're not that ugly or obvious unless you paint them bright pink. Anyways, as said, you can use the Ralliart brakes or the Eclipse brakes but it requires you to convert to a 5-lug pattern. Alternatively you can piece together a kit using various sources like the Mirage guys do. The problem is the parts aren't easy to find.

"That's about it. I have brake rotors included in the list, but most people will probably opt to go aftermarket drilled or slotted. Same on brake pads. Also, don't go to Mitsu with this list and make an order. You will be killed on price. This is probably $2000 in parts. Be resourceful. If you have difficulty sourcing parts on this list then you probably shouldn't be performing the swap to begin with".

Thanks guys...
Does anyone know if ether of the rear hubs are big enough to be drilled out to 4 lug? On the mirages it was on option if you used the expo rear hubs.
Just trying to weight my options...

the Nissan Snetra SE-R has rear disks with 4x114.3 bolt pattern. I would suggest looking there first.

You can do it cheaper. Get a set of rear 5lug bearings, or redrill a ralliart rear rotor to 4 lug, get the rear backing plate off ralliart, get the e brake parts, which I found a set of rear e brakes off an evo that might work for 20, e brake cables, calipers ( same as on rear of eclipse if you want to go cheap or go brembo) pads.

I say it's better to get it done right the first time.

Thats not that bad, but after it goes through a distibutor, and shipping, its more like 1000.
Backing plates are 100 for both.
Bearings are 100 each, thats 200 for both
Calipers, 100 for a set, 300 for brembo
E brakes off evo, I got for 20 plus 10 or so shipping
Rotors 60 to 200, depends on how performancey you want
Pads 40 to 60
Brake lines 100 for all 4 wheels
E brake cables 20 each
You could do it for around 450 if you have rotors redrilled to 4lug, it will cost around 700 if you get 5lug, 1000 if you go rear brembo calipers. I would rather source everything out myself.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2005-Mitsubish...3A1|240%3A1318
If you could get both sides cheap from the uk with good shipping, that would help quite a bit.

By "backing plates" I assume you mean caliper carriers? The backing plate is a piece of thin metal behind the rotor, which should cost no more than $20 used, the caliper carrier is the large piece of thick metal that the calipers bolt to. I got a kit from RPW, but they sent me the wrong carriers. I'm STILL trying to find carriers that are decently priced and will fit right. Not any wrecked Ralliarts at the auto wreckers for me to grab some and try them either.

The rear calipers on the Ralliart bolt right to the backing plate. There is no separate bracket for the calipers. The backing plates for the Ralliart are very thick and very heavy. See the attached diagram.

Yes, the thin, metal things they bolt to. You might be able to use the backing plates off of the eclipse. It looks like its the same and it does use the same calipers. I have been researching this, I know the evo calipers bolt right up to it also and that the e brake might be the same. I just don't know about e brake cables. Look for the how to on the 2g rear disk brake swap.

Nope. That is the rear disc setup of a Ralliart. Those are the e-brake shoes. If you look at the diagram you can see the caliper bolted right onto the backing plate.
