Progress Springs

Hey guys

I've been browsing the boards for a while and decided to become a member.

I have an '02 OZ and want to drop it a little. I did a search and have found mixed reviews about the progress springs (it seems to be a popular way to lower the Lancer around here). I found a set on ebay for a pretty resonable price. What do you guys think?

By the way, this site is bad ass. I must have clicked on the Random Rides section about 1000 times. You have some beautiful cars.

For the price of the Progress springs, I'd go with the Tein S-Techs instead. Similar drop rates with a sag guarantee, and what I feel (having ridden shotgun in cars with both) is a stiffer ride. PM me and I'll help you get a set for a similar price as what you see in that eBay auction.

So the S-Techs are stiffer?

Wouldn't that wear out the stock struts faster? I dont really want a stiff ride, just less wheel gap. But I guess anytime you improve performance, you lose drivability.

Thanks for the reply,

Dana

Drives: A little red Neon. I also have a Lancer that presumably still rolls...but doesn't drive.

Stiffer springs are actually easier on the shocks than looser springs. The more work the spring does, the less the shock does. Also the lower the drop, the more potential damage to the shock.

Having been driven around in a car with progress springs I can say without hesitation that I was not impressed. I have not been in a car with s-techs however.

I agree with Ryan on this one ....once i installed the progress springs the car felt amazing in the curves...of course the k-bar and the rear sway bar help too...I've never tried the Teins but given Tein's reputation i'm sure they're excellent...

Well guys,

I found a set of Sprint springs at a local speed shop, and they made me a deal I couldn't refuse. I'll post pics as soon as they get installed

The good news is the other springs are still available and noone has bid yet

I cant wait to get rid of the wheel gap !

Ok guys,

I got the Sprint springs installed. The ride is a little bit stiffer, but it handles a lot better. I hope to have a few pics up soon. A friend of mine just got the Progress for his car, and the ride is almost stock, kinda nice. But mine sits lower in the rear

I also got some 205 55's for the stock rims, looks a little more agressive.
