Could you explain this with little more detail?

I know this is coming very late, but when I switched my 2003 Lancer ES with a EVO IX, the gauge lights (not the warning lights just the gauges) remain on even when the parking lights and/or head lights are off. When the car turns off the lights do, but that is the only time. Did I do something wrong, is that how it is supposed to be, or can I fix it?

it's supposed to be that way. They shine during the day and at night.
