Alpine or Pioneer Head units display

I am looking into the Alpine 9887 as my first choice, or the Pioneer 510 head unit mounted in the stock location. For those of you running either of these, how is the display in the daylight? I have a older Alpine 9830. During the day, I cant see the display at all.

re:

I'm pretty sure both headunits have contrast controls... but the 9887 has a better display in my opinion. The 9887 has features like time correction, built in crossover, media expander, etc.... however to control these features as well as bass and trebble are not as simple as most other headunits. You have to go through a few button presses/menus to get there. The 9887 is a slick deck... top of the line in terms of what is in alpine's 09 lineup (excluding the imprint sound processors)... most popular deck for iasca or sound quality cars... if you don't like all the time correction and stuff... then go to the 9886... it's an identical deck without the extra features.

Hope this helps,

All the audio sites do like the 9887. I am leaning twords the 9887 for the sound quality, 24 bit converter, and the 7 band eq. I use the time delay in my Alpine 9830 to center the sound stage and bring the bass upfront, but the display on my deck is so dim in the daylight, I cant see anything on the display.

I was looking for anyone with a 9887 to 9884 Alpine mounted in the stock location to comment on the display in the daylight.

There is a headunit relocation kit for our RAs. That would improve seeing the display in daylight.
