im not sure if it will fit, it seems that most other mirage parts will fit, but if youre willing to spend the money to see id be glad to hear if it does. you would be better off going to rpw's site and buy cams specifcally for lancers, but the cam gears for 97-02 (i think thats the right years-1.8L) will fit 02+ lancer

Drives: A little red Neon. I also have a Lancer that presumably still rolls...but doesn't drive.

Don't use it. Assuming you had the capability to tune for the changes in lobe profiles...it's a less aggressive cam. Absolute waste of time. And it fits, oz4g94. Our heads are identical aside from the cam. And we already had cams available from RPW through Vision Imports.

To be clear (since he's buying it from me), Hobie is saying the head WILL fit but the cam WON'T.

I had discussed this in another thread.

The heads of the 4G93 and the 4G94 are identical. Same exact head, except for one change, the 1997 Mirage head had solid lifters, while 98 - present have hydraulic lifters. The main difference, as someone mentioned, is in the cam profiles. The 4G94 cams have different durations due to the longer stroker of the motor.

In summary, a Mirage cam would not be effective in a Lancer, but the Mirage head could be used.

No, the cam WILL fit, it would just be retarded to run it.

I thought the cam duration for the 4g93 was 248 intake and 248 exhaust. On the 4g94 its 240 intake and 248 exhaust. I'll find the post on it from mitsiman.

Here we go...... http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthr...&highlight=248
I know I've seen more posts on different forums on how the lancer cam is smaller than the mirage cam. I'll have to look in the Aussie forum.

If you want to try to run the Mirage cam, I'd think you'd need some tuning. The ECU is expecting the 4G94 cam output, so the new air/fuel mix and exhaust will be a shock to the system...

I'd be surprised if the Mirage cam were more aggressive. I guess it's not impossible. What I DO know is that it probably won't run without some trouble on the stock ECU. If anyone wants a stock 1.8l cam I'm sure I could pull mine for a nominal fee and shipping.

I dunno much about Cams really.
It sounds like youre all talkin' about stock Cams,
but does this mean that an aftermarket Cam upgrade for the Mirage,
wont work for the Lancer either?

The mirage camshaft if you get the hydraulic one is slightly larger than the factory camshaft. It woudl be considered a stage 1/2 compared to a RPW stage 1 camshaft. There woudl be no need for any ecu changes or engine mods. Would be a good budget upgrade for someone wanting a cheap camshaft and didn't want to do massive changes to the car.

Make sure you get the late model hydraulic one though, not the early model adjustable tappet unit.

the mirage cam IS more aggressive. the engines are tuned differently from the factory, the mirage to have less torque and more high end output on the 1.8/ adding the mirage cam is a perfect addition to the lancer imho. the grind gives you more top end power.
