2009 GTS upgrades

What are some of the things I can do boost my horsepower? Has any one put a proformance chip in and if so, can you do yourself and do you have to reconfigure the computer? Also what about the K&N cold air filter system? Thanks for any help you can offer on my 2009.

It depends on how HP you want and how much you are willing to pay. There are alot of parts out there, most parts from 08 will work. I have installed K&N system that 7hp,& exhaust system by RPM. So you are looking at 12 hp, an increase in mid range power mileage is alot better, I drive a 100 miles a day, so I can tell you. once the engine has loosen up, also it will be alot more throttle respond. I don't like to much noise, but the intake makes alot. You can even go for upgrade fuel injectors and pippy-back ecu that about 30 hp for about $900.00. So you have there, but its all on the internet.

i would go with arc cold air filter, that way your car can go faster without having the performance chip installed

I would stay away from the chips. Some guys have been ripped off by b/s chips out on the market. Get the works ecu reflash or buy a piggyback unit. As stated by the others how much hp depends on how much you spend. A turbo kit gets you to about 200HP, but they are $4-5k so you are looking at the best case being ~$100/hp for the turbo option. The other mods you can do get you as stated from 4 to 20 hp for a total cost of ~$500-1k so you are looking @ best case of $25/hp if you can squeeze 20hp out of a few cheap mods. talk to other members though. see what combination works the best. If a CAI is tested for 7hp, and a catback exhaust is tested to 11hp, you might not always see a 18hp gain.

Also think about options that lighten the car like cf body parts, lighter aftermarket rims, etc. lightening the car can get very expensive even for <300lbs or so. Remember power to weight ratio plays a role in acceleration so either increase hp or reduce weight or any combination of the two.

Depending on your budget just go with a few bolt on mods. Basic mods such as an exhaust and intake and I would suggest to add pulley and test pipe will get you some HP. Again depending on how much you are going to spend you can determine the brand or which mod first and so on.
