Cedia Headlights

Before I got these headlights I checked on this forum to see if anyone had posted pics regarding the install of these lights. There is some text about it but no pics. Well since I got lights in for the wife's car I will try and put up a tutorial on what is needed. I got these lights from ebay and it only took 7 days to get here in Nor-cal from Taiwan. They look even better in person than in the pics. The sellers store is
http://stores.ebay.com/Rapidcustoms-Lighting-and-More

I paid 230 for these ones. I know that this model of lancer is not very popular anymore but I figured I'd post any ways. Here's pics I took this morning.

Cedia Headlights

Yeah my wife goes to school in SF so I have wait till she comes home this weekend. I will do a write up on how to install these lights, including all the parts needed. Just have to find the sockets for the city lights and for the turn indicator on bottom. I even got new wheels for her car so I'll be putting them on too. Kinda curious to see how these wheels will look since its going on a 03 munich silver es. This will be the 3rd set of wheels going on this car.

Update

I checked the other thread about install the JDM headlights and found out that the headlights that I ordered did not have the adapters needed to hold the H1 bulbs in the socket. I am currently trying to get these parts. I have contacted the manufacturer of these lights but, have received no response yet. Any way I posted some questions in the other thread found here How to Install JDM Headlights

Well here we go with the tutorial. Finally got all the parts together. Thanks for all the info OZR lancer and 4no. Couldn't have done it without your help.

before

After removing 3 bolts carefully remove headlight. Disconnecting the headlight, frt blinker, and the connector for the frt marker light. Shown is back of stock headlight

Next you want to make a note of socket cut outs on back of stock headlights

When you compare the stock headlight sockets to the Cedia headlight sockets you can see that cedia headlight are missing an extra cutout for both marker and blinker

My solution is simple but not so elegant. Just cut the socket to fit the bulb holders. I did this using only a box cutter very carefully. I found out that the black plastic on the back of the headlight is very soft, so take care when trimming.

Next I prepared my city light holders. I bought some 194 bulb holders from Autozone for $3.99ea and 194LL bulbs for $3.99 a pr. I modified the bulb holders by removing a little plastic under the lugs of the holders.

I connected the city light holder to the wire for the marker lights. Since its a low wattage application I decided to solder my connection.

First test of marker and city lights

Installing the headlights is pretty straight forward. Just install in reverse order of removal. Just remember to hook up blinker and marker/city light connectors. First test fit of both lamps

Blinker operational test

Since I was using a headlight harness I decided to test to make sure connections correct.

Installed harness and routed wires. Decided on using a common ground for high and low beams. Red wires in frt are the grounds.

Since it was getting dark did a functional test. City/marker lights on

Fogs lights on, those are Hella FF50 lights with Mtec yellow bulbs 2500k

Headlights on low beam, Mtec bulbs 5000k

All lights on, high beam bulbs are Nokya 9005 yellow 2500k. Reason for the color, really foggy in Daly City.

Just low beams only

Tail lights DEPO evo VII replica

If any one has noticed the substantial bumper damage in the pics, that is thanks to all inconsiderate drivers in SF.
Well thats it hope you enjoyed the show!!!

Thanks for your help OZR. Got a question for you, what type of light pattern does your light put out? On my wifes car the low beam pattern does not seem to be even. Has some hot spots, which kinda bother me. It looks like I have to take the headlights off again, cuz I cant get to the adjusters. Seems like there is too much plastic blocking the adjuster. I will take pics later.
