transponder key?

Hi,

I recently purchased a 2003 Lancer ES for my wife. It only came with one key and one remote.

Do 2003 Lancer keys come with a built in transponder?

Any help would be appreciated...If it matters, I did search for "transponder" and didn't find much.

no there is no chip in our keys. make as many as needed.
