Thinking of getting a Lancer for my Fiance'

She's got a job that involves a lot of driving... how are they on the longer trips? What sort of highway mileage do you all get with them? I've also considered the Mazda 3 itouring, the Sentra, Civic... having a hard time making up my mind, but 0% interest is good, plus I can get the 500.00 loyalty rebate.

On a side note... anyone know of the best dealers to buy from in the Md, Va, DC, De area? How much under invoice is reasonable? Probably going with the ES model if we get it.

Drives: 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally

at normal speeds (60-70 mph) i get in the low 30s... like 33 or 34
faster speeds like (80) i get around 29-30
90+ is terrible... like 25 ha

pretty decent gas millage, but i have a 5 spd...

im not sure what the mazda 3s looks like but
if you have a 5spd you can short shift and get upper 20s to low 30s even city..

good luck deciding !!

I think she would really like the GTS, but a it doesn't seem to get the mileage of the 2.0 or some of the other cars that I have been looking at.

As stated I am seeing the same MPG's as stated above for the following reasons :

1) Green HP Drop in Air Filter
2) I run 40PSI in the front and 38PSI in the rear

I test drove the GTS and ES and for me, the GTS drove much better for obvious reasons (suspension, engine, etc).

It's not bad. I got my 08 ES for 17K OTD last year. But mine was a manual so it was cheaper. Your price looks like a good deal for a CVT.

Not sure what the ADM (Adjustable Dealer Markup) is for Maryland. they quoted me 23.5K for the gts with the markup in Mobile Al. (think it was an environmental protection package ($1445.00 or so)). Rubbish! You do not have to pay for that. I talked them down to $19.5K after a $2,000.00 trade in(Good riddens to the crappy Cavalier!). They wanted to sell me the ES for $18.5K so that is probably a good buy. I would say there is only about $1000.00 or so that the dealer is willing to negotiate for cars under $20K. Here is some advice i followed: If you are dealing with them over the phone or internet have them take pics of the car and the window sticker and email them to you so you can see the options, then price the car in Edmunds.com with the options, a good deal will fall between the msrp and the invoice price. it will also show you what others are paying for the car. in all that is a good price on the ES!
