Turning off "daytime" driving lights

I'm curious as to if there is a way to keep the daytime driving lights from coming on when the car is started. I'm putting in afterkarmet bulbs and I'd like them not to run while driving in the day time. I asked @ mitsu and the guy basically told me that it's a DOT safety thing and disabling it would be illegal...but i don't care...anyone know?

I'm not very technical when it comes to wiring and electrical stuff. It really didn't tell me how to cut off my DRL's, unless im buying HID's..... I'm just gonna be swapping out my factory bulbs for the "cool blue" bulbs from PIAA.
