2009 lancer es sport replacement headlight bulb?
Hey all! I'm a new member here on this site and from what I have seen so far this is a great site I have many things to learn and want to learn from you all!
First I want to start by asking which replacement bulb should I buy to replace the stock halogen on my 09 lancer es sport to have the HID looks? I read on other forums also but I got confused because of so many opinions. First I thought the sylvania ultra are good, but then they said it's not because it burns out too quick because of the DRL function on the 09 lancer?!?! Is this true? Then some told me to get replacement bulb from this company called HOEN and get the Xenonmatch, then others say Philips but there are so many choices. I just want something to give the highest Kelvin temperature possible, the lumens (brightness), and not expensive meaning somewhere 20-40 bucks range.
I also want something that is perfect plug and play, meaning you don't have to splice wires or add any hardness to it! I would do HID but it's too risky and expensive, unless someone here could point me to a good place to get HIDs for around $100 or less.
I look forward to learn from you guys!

replacing your bulbs will most likely burn out quick its better to just get a hid kit,im saying this from my expirence so other opinions may differ but thats mine, and if your looking for a plug n play rrm ( roadracemotorsports) just came out with a plug n play, its like 239$ dyno'd at 9 hp to the wheeles on a 09 2.4,so the numbers may or may not be different for the 2.0,check their website or pm rob for more info on it,thats just info i have gathered from the thread welcome to evo m

First of all let me tell you that you can't have the highest kelvin temperature and the best visibility at the same time. A high kelvin temperature means blue lights which cause stress to other drivers and are illegal. And it will be perfectly obvious that those will not be real HID's to anyone with basic knowledge about lights. Most stock HID's have a white look rather than a blue one anyway. I suggest getting real HID's when you can afford them. If you still want to get lightbulbs I recommend staying close to a white/amber color rather than blue because it also gives you better visibility.
I have HIR headbulbs which are a slight improvement from stock and have a whiter color rather than amber. They're slightly more efficient bulbs and burn brighter. Most of those lightbulbs you were talking about are tintet with a blue color which actually reduces brightness.

Right... I agree, but which aftermarket lightbulb should I get that provides that white look and doesn't burn quick? The philips one sounds very nice and in the price range I am looking for, but if I get the HID I will have to do some splicing and rewiring hardness in order to not damage the stock one and that is very risky. I don't want to void my warranty yet because I just got the car
Also is there a bulb list for the 2009 model yet or is that the same as the 2008? Are there any HID kit out there that is made for compatibility with the lancer with DRL?

All of the HID kits will flicker because of the DRL when not in the on position. There are a few fixes for this and you can search these forums for them. There are tons of posts on that. For example you can splice them into your parking lights, rewire it so your fogs are the DRL and a few others. I got a plug and play piece from 02-lancer-es and it stops the flicker but your lights are always on, even in the off position.

Like masterAK said, the higher the kelvin temp the more blue in the bulb and more irritating. Also the lower the temp the more actual light output so the further you can see. 4300K(white) is usually the oem bulb temp.

You probably need to get a Relay Harness. What it does is, it will add a harness straight to your battery so that your HID kit will get enough power to stay on.
That is my guess.
You can get this at VVME.com. They are the cheapest HID kits that I can find. I have bought several and installed so many of them. And only a few have given me any problems.

2008+ Lancers have Daytime Running Lights. In basic terms, the Daytime Running Lights provide a lower voltage. If you install an HID kit, your DRL's will cause them to flicker because they are not running at full power. This will cause damage to your bulbs & ballast and will lessen the lifetime of your HID kit. It is also something you don't want to drive around with (strobe light effect).
Some people avoid this "HID flicker" by just having there Low Beams ON 24/7. You can use a DRL Bypass w/ Relay Harness (product I provide) to simply eliminate the DRL's--thus eliminating the "HID flicker." More information can be found in my sig.
