if its an ES with no remotes from the dealer it probably doesnt have a remote setup in it to program.

I got it used so I don't know if it ever had the option. Is there a way of checking? Also, how far up does the "jumper" need to be? I got the paper clip shoved all the way up there and that didn't work

So do you need the FCC ID CODE

FcC id code or is that just BS, I called my dealership and said they had to program it and so on because the code on the remote always changes and so on its never the same... I posted on the FCC but no answer until i found this .....I am waiting to buy a remote on ebay but hesitant about the Fcc id on it... would it matter...?

the fcc on the back of your original keys has to match the new remote. Make sure u follow the instructions carefully from www.programyourremote.com (the first Post). and also remember that your doors must be shut before connecting the 1 and 4. I used a 2 paper clips and a wire with 2 alligator clips. so u plug in the two paper clips and get in your car and put the keys in the ignition and then connect the two together and follow the rest of the instructions. It works great and only took a couple minutes!!! Paid 8 dollars on ebay for remote and had a key made at walmart for 1.37. yes walmart makes double sided keys!!!!!!
