Nitrous in a lancer

givin my addiction to drag racing after hitting the track this year , im curious to see how fast i can get my lancer going down the track staying na , not adding boost , which brings my question is a 50-75 shot of nitrous safe to do in the na 4b11 thats in the lancer? this is a serious question so people that wana be dumb about it save your posts i dont wana hear it , i just want to hear from people that have good info regarding this topic

if you take the engine, rebuild it, so it's structurally capable of supporting the pressure that will cause, it should be able to handle it, but because of the way it's bored out, it'd blow under the pressure.

This, and if you're going to spend all the money rebuilding it, you might as well go turbo and have the power on tap all the time, for free (ie. no refilling a bottle).

You can use a wet system with 50hp jets without problems.

I recommended a Zex kit.

thats true nd as badly as i want turbo im gonna stay na with the lancer , the next ride is gonna be boosted from the start either a skyline or evo 8 or 9 , but for now i wana see what i can get out of the na lancer , not expecting much to be honest

see thats what im thinking , if i ran a kit with say a 25-35 shot , that really isnt much , and i would think the engine can handle a small shot , but then again i dont know much about the 4b11

if it was the 4b11t then from what i understand it can take a 100-150 shot no problem

I was doing some reading today on the 4b11. Mainly comparing the 2.4 to the boosted 2.4 in the caliber srt4. I found they are exactly the same block and crank but the bore is different as is the pistons and rods. What I'm saying is basically our blocks should be able to handle the power as so can our crank, however its the little things that will kill you like the differences in tolerances, lower end rings, forged vs. non forged pistons and rods ect.

I would assume this to be the same for the evo x engines. You could probably run a 25 shot or 50 shot, but I can see any one of the above mentioned failing rather quickly.

At least with boost you have a bit more control and you have more gauges to monitor whats going on and such...

I'm surprised you had a change in heart, staying n/a after all...
not sure what your budget is like since I know you just got that new place but $200 a month could net possible boosting by march

as sad as it would be im not concerned about warranty , i wouldnt even think of nitrous or boost on it till i have a backup car tho , just looking into it for now

Never put nitrious on a car unless you want to rebuild the engine alot. Turbot it and rebuild the engine once. It will be as fast or faster than an evo
