hood vent rainguard
hey, just curious..
a friend of mine told me that i could be getting more power if i took off the plastic guard under my hood vent to allow the hot air to be released quicker.
i took it off.. i could feel a little bit more power, and the heat if escaping A LOT easier now. couldnt really feel anything when i had the guard on..
is there anyone else that has done this? could it potentially hurt my motor in the future from heavy downpours? spead up cracking on hood maybe, etc?
thanks

I just got my ViS carbon fiber hood about a month ago and have always been riding with the vent open.
I do keep the guard in the car and check the weather before I go anywhere though. A little rain shouldnt effect the manifold but a down pour...I dont think that would be pretty.
It wouldnt be an issue of the hood cracking or the motor, more concern should be the turbo and manifold thats sitting right under the vent going through that rapid temp change. And for me my manifold is heat wrapped so I wouldnt want my stuff getting washed like that.
Just keep the cover in your trunk and if it starts to pour pull into a gas station and put it back on.

The stock Evo rain guard might work. Has anyone tried it out?

idk but damnnn.. it makes a huge difference!!
there was so much hot air coming from the vents today, i was wondering how much i was choking the turbo because the rainguard traps 98% of it!
rained also, but it wasnt a big issue. might just look into getting a metal piece that can go over the mani and turbo
