Building 4g94 Non-Turbo

Hey, i'm thinking about building an fast 4g94 motor w/o turbo. Getting 4g94 from scrapyard soon. What would you suggest me to put in it to get something nice out of it.

Cam Shaft?
Cam gear?
Valve spring for higher rev.
Piston

About the IM and Cylinder Head, should i get them from another 4g engine? or only buy one alrdy ported and polished from RRM?

Lets me know what you think about this project? or i should put it Turbo?

a lot of people will say just go turbo since the 4g94 engine doesnt respond well to bolt-on mods.

You're going to be looking really hard for power in a non-turbo 4G94. I would recommend the 4G92 DOHC head swap for starters. You won't be able to safely rev any higher than about 7200 at the most without risking your engine, even with a built valvetrain. You can thank the 95.8mm stroke for that limit. Other than that, I would suggest searching and reading about others that tried going the same route as you, only to end up going turbo.

what's difference between 4g92 DOHC and 4g94 SOHC except the DOHC

and for rev 7200 would be a good start since 4g94 dont rev higher than 6000.

What about overbore cylinder? is it possible

That's really the only difference between the two. As for overbore, do so at your own risk. The cylinder walls are very, very thin which leaves little to no room for going larger in the bore. The 4G94 is the highest bored and stroked variant in the 4G9x family. Its pretty much maxed out.

I did not find any problems reving the 4G94 at 8.2K, just dont do it 24/7

However is there if there is no need to rev that high if you know that your set up will not be making power beyong that RPM range?

Perhaps if you modify cams + port and polish etc.. and its capable of producing power beyond 7K + then fine.

Lot of people seem to underestimate the strenght of the 94 its pretty strong unless you so something really stupid with it.

100% bolt on

need

4G93 High comp pistons fit however the dome style of 4G93 piston do not match the combustion chamber of the 4G92 head but it still works quite nice, seeing i have a friend running a 4g93 forged block (high comp) at 187HP atw.
70mm idler oulley
7MGT/7MGTE timing belt
if your using 83mm pistons you need to get a gasket to suit

Read the FAQ in my sig, I had a lot of mods and gained very little power (it's been a while since I looked at the dyno but it was around 5 HP and I lost torque) compared to a more or less stock Lancer. This is what I had

RRM intake
RRM bored throttle body
RRM intake manifold
RRM header
10:1 compression pistons (up from the stock 9.5:1)
Greddy Evo 2 exhaust
RRM bored fuel rail

Unless you plan on dumping a lot of money into the car including custom, one-off pieces, I would strongly suggest you build for boost. I suspect that at best, you could get 150-170 HP out of the motor and that's if you did serious work. With naturally aspirated 4-bangers, you need the ability to rev high. Unfortunately the Lancer is not good at this. Look at the NA Hondas, they rev to 8000+ RPM. The stock Lancer redlines at 6500 and I doubt you could get to 8000 easily if at all.

Your FAQ should be a link to autotrader.

In any case, yeah I would say go turbo it's the only way to gain more than 5 HP
